ARSENICUM ALBUM. 453 small, feeble, frequent; small, unequal; entirely suppressed, also with frequent beating of the heart. Emotive Sphere.- ~Indifference to life. —Loathing of life, and desire to destroy one's-self. Head.-* Tearing in the head, with heaviness of the same, and weary and drowsy feeling. — Violent megrim in the case of a female, which generally continued for three days, and during which the patient vomited all the time, being moreover deprived of consciousness.-Megrim which is caused by abdominal plethora, and seems to depend upon an irritated condition of the ganglionic system, can alone be cured by arsenic. Integuments of tle head: ~scaldhead, also with swelling of the cervical and posterior cervical glands. Eyes.-~Pains in the eyes, obliging one to lie down. — *Pains in the eyes, aggravated by moving them ~or by exposing them to the light.-0Ophthalmia, caused by taking cold in consequence of exposure in cold water. —~Specks and ulcers of the cornea. —Acute inflammation of the eyelids. —*Dryness of the lids, especially the margins.-*Spasmodic closing of the lids. —*Photophobia "also excessive. Ears. —*.Roaring in the ears, especially during the pains. NoSe. —Tuberculous swelling in the nose. Face. —Greenish complexion. Mouthi. —Swelling and gangrene of the tongue, with violent fever, putrid diarrhcea, and general convulsions. -*Glossitis. Appetite and Taste.-*Food tastes as if not salt enough. — After drinking: *shuddering and chilliness; Orecurrence of the vomiting and diarrhcea. Gastric Symptoms. —Vomiting of a brownish or blackish substance, attended with great straining and increase of the pains in the stomach, sometimes mixed with blood.-Bloody discharges upwards and downwards.-*Asiatic and spasmodic cholera, in the former when the vomiting and diarrhoea are accompanied by a burning pain extending from the pit of the stomach to the umbilicus, by violent cutting colic, tonic spasms in the fingers and toes, sudden and excessive prostration, anxious jactitation of the whole body, and inexpressible anguish and fear of death. During the vomiting: *violent pains in the stomach; internal burning heat and thirst; *soreness in the abdomen; fear of death; Oviolent colic; ~precursory symptoms of sea-sickness.-~Vomiting of drunkards; vomiting of pregnant females. Stomach.-*Hard pressure in the pit of the stomach; *after eating, especially at the cardiac orifice and in the oesophagus. Abdomen..-*Inflammation of the peritoneum and spleen.
